Panda designs are retired at the end of their year, so a 2023 coin cannot be bought new from the mint any more and only reaches the market through dealers. That is the appeal of buying back years: same gold content, a design that is no longer in production. This one is a true one gram coin under the metric sizing China adopted in 2016.
